There are many reasons to visit Tenerife if you have young children however for me and my family the following points and the top 5 Things to do in Tenerife with kids:
NB This post was created in collaboration with Skyscanner.
1 Wall to Wall Sunshine and Beaches
Whilst December for example is one of the coolest months of the year in Tenerife, Canary Islands, compared to the rest of Europe, it’s still a lot warmer. Â You can still wander on the beach without jumpers or coats and you can still experience that mystical (well to us in the UK) Sun!

2. Talk to the animals at Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz –
At Loro Parque you will find the world’s largest collection of parrots, as well as a breeding colony of penguins.  I know my three would love this and not want to leave. It is also a great thing to do if the weather isn’t quite as sunny as you’d like one day.
3. Direct Flights from lots of UK airports –Â 5 Things to do in Tenerife With Kids
With direct flights to Tenerife from lots of UK airports, it makes getting to Tenerife very straightforward. When you have young children a direct flight for me is an essential, as it makes the flight time shorter and avoids, what can be stressful airport transfers.
4. Siam Park
One of Europe’s largest waterparks. This place looks seriously impressive and like a kids playground! Thrill rides include the Dragon, Volcano, Tower of Power (a 28-m vertical drop slide (maybe not one for my Under 5’s), a six-lane racing slide and rapids galore. Wave Palace boasts the world’s largest artificial waves reaching a height of 3 m, while more placid waters can be found on the Mai Thai lazy river ride.
5. Whales & Dolphin trip
This is something I remember (not so fondly) from my holidays as a kid, however my three don’t seem to suffer with sea sickness like I used to and I know they would love a trip out in a boat to see the whales and dolphins. Â They are fascinated by where they go and what they do. Â Definitely something we would love to do.

I like Tenerife, if you stay on the edge of Playa de Las Americas and not in the centre it’s lovely.
I too remember the boat trip to see Whales and Dolphins!!!
We visited Tenerife when I was a child and I remember Loro Parque, the water park and going whale watching – all fabulous 😀
