When I think of Jakarta and Indonesia, I think back to my months travelling round the world straight after university with some good friends and not very much money.  I think of endless beaches, cocktails, parties and hostels where no-one ever got any sleep. I think of partying and then I think of the three children I have an wonder how they will fit into that image! However one look at the Visit Indonesia website and I can easily see how!

So these are the 5 Reasons to Visit Jakarta with the Kids:

1. To See Incredible Wildlife

We want to do a Safari with the girls, but maybe when they are a little older. However Taman Safari, just outside Jakarta is perfect for little ones as you can feed animals straight from your car. The drive through zoo is focused on protecting endangered species and they have a good education programme for kids. I would love them to see Tigers in Indonesia, where they should be!

2. Incredible Weather

Close to the equator, Indonesia has a tropical climate year-round, with temperatures averaging a very family-friendly 28°C. Whilst October–April is known as the wet season or the low season it can also bring with it some incredible family friendly deals.  In May–September the weather is more pleasant, however the December school holidays are probably the most popular time of year to take family holidays in Bali and Indonesia as a whole, with a second surge of visitors in June/July.  Wouldn’t it be perfect to book a holiday to Indonesia over Christmas!

3. To Visit Waterbom Waterpark

Waterbom Waterpark is the most popular waterpark near Jakarta and it is easy to see why.  There is a huge selection of water slides and areas for kids to play in and with the tropical weather, where better to spend your time than in the water spashing around.  My three absolutely love a waterpark! 4. Child Friendly Activities and Shopping Combined

Pacific Place in Jakarta manages to combine the fabulous shopping that is to be had in Indonesia with Kidzania a very popular kids activity. Kidzania is the perfect way to keep the kids happy whilst you take advantage of the shops. It’s a win win situation for all.  If you haven’t experienced Kidzania in the UK then it is set up like a little town, where the children pretend to be adults for the day and try out different jobs like being pilots above!

5. Wonderful Accommodation

Wonderful accommodation all over the city such as the Fairmont Jakarta, pictured above; you can pick up some fabulous prices when you search Traveloka Hotel Deals too.  I love the skyline of Jakarta and I could spend hours watching it. Could you?
